(1) BETA-AMYLOID 40

pg/mL
Plasma beta-amyloid 1-42/1-40 ratios less than or equal
to 0.102 suggest a higher probability of a patient being
clinically diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease (AD),
while values above 0.102 suggest a lower
probability of AD diagnosis. Precise plasma testing of
Beta Amyloid 42 and Beta Amyloid 40 has demonstrated
comparable effectiveness to traditional
cerebrospinal fluid testing and
amyloid positron emission tomography (PET) scans.
When assessing the risk of AD pathology as the
underlying cause for mild cognitive impairment (MCI)
or dementia, it is important to consider
various factors such as medical and family history,
nutritional deficiency biomarkers, neuroimaging, and
physical, neurological and neuropsychological examinations.
Methodology:
Sysmex Chemiluminescence Enzyme Immunoassay (CLEIA).
Values obtained with different methods
cannot be used interchangeably.
