No matter what form it takes, though, it’s all about coming together.
As the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic continues, communities across Canada and throughout the world are feeling the impacts and adapting to our new normal. And while these unprecedented times have kept many of us physically apart, they have also helped to highlight the immeasurable importance of connection, of compassion, and of coming together to support those who need it most.
As an organization that lives its values, Dynacare is incredibly proud to support our communities. That's why the Community Outreach Program was created to promote health and wellness, as well as build stronger communities in Canada and abroad. Through the program, Dynacare provides monetary support to charitable organizations or services in the areas where our employees live and work.
And this year, with many charities and those they support facing even greater challenges due to COVID-19, it is important now more than ever for us to come together and support our communities. With this in mind, we are pleased to announce the outstanding charities and programs Dynacare is supporting through the 2020 Community Outreach Program.
The Toronto-based Youth Employment Services (YES) delivers youth employment, job readiness, entrepreneurship and empowerment programs for hundreds of thousands of youth in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) every year. Dynacare is donating $5,000 to support their YES2Trades program, which provides high-risk youth with opportunities to develop job-seeking and life skills, overcome challenging situations, gain hands-on experience and technical skills, and much more.
Hope Air is the only national charity providing free travel to Canadians in financial need who must travel to receive medical care far from home. Dynacare is donating $5,000 to support the Hope Air Families and Children Medical Access Flights and Accommodations program, which provides free air travel and accommodations to families who must travel in order to access medical care for their children.
The Kidney Foundation of Canada – Manitoba Branch is committed to eliminating the burden of kidney disease by supporting those affected by the disease, funding research, advocating for improved access to care, and increasing awareness of the importance of kidney health and organ donation. Dynacare is donating $5,000 to support their Short-Term Financial Assistance Program, which helps patients who are in need of life-sustaining treatment cover costs like medication, renal-friendly food, transportation to medical care and more.
Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada is the only national charity committed to providing brain tumour information, education and support to individuals affected by a brain tumour while funding research to find a cure. This year, Dynacare is supporting the organization’s annual Hats for Hope campaign by serving as the initiative’s official hashtag sponsor. For every use of the #HatsForHope hashtag on Saturday, October 24, Dynacare will donate 27 cents toward their Pediatric & Family Support Program, up to a total of $1,500. This donation will provide support to children affected by a brain tumour and their families through support groups, resources, a toll-free support line and more.
Dynacare is proud to support these four incredible charities and the important work they do to promote health, wellness and a strong sense of community. And while we feel this way whenever we support our communities, coming together during these challenging times adds additional significance.
It serves as an important reminder that, though we are in many cases physically apart, we are all truly in this together.
